5 Essential Irish Electronic Music Artists You Should Know About

White Collar Boy on stage

The Irish electronic music scene is gathering momentum. Over the past few years, a surge in interest in techno, house and other electronic styles has fostered the growth of a healthy ecosystem of producers and bands. The last year has seen a number of new acts appear on the scene, as well as new releases and worldwide recognition for established Irish artists.

Here are our top five essential Irish electronic acts:

White Collar Boy

Electronic-garage

Mark Cummins and Gavin White make up this Dublin two-piece who have been rapidly gaining popularity, both in Ireland and in Europe. With two Berghain sets to their name, a monthly residency in Pygmalion, and two acclaimed EPs (both are streamable below), White Collar Boy are one of Ireland's most promising electronic acts.

Matador

Techno

Since 2006, Gavin Lynch has been producing dark, atmospheric techno under the Matador moniker. Based in Dublin, he has been a major player in the development of the Irish techno scene with past residencies in Tripod and at the Acii Disco parties. His latest EP 'Zoles' was released late last year on Richie Hawtin's M-nus label. You can get a taste of it below:

New Jackson

House/Disco

New Jackson is the disco-infused electronic music project of David Kitt, who's well known in Ireland for his past success as a solo indie musician. He's just released his new 'Made It Mine' EP on Permanent Vacation. Listen to one of its tracks below.

Chymera

Techno/House

Corkman Brendan Gregoriy AKA Chymera has been producing diverse electronic tracks since the early 00's. Now based in Berlin, he has released on major labels such as Ovum, Cocoon and Delsin. His latest single, 'Tidal/Moot Point' (on Ovum), was called "A shimmering 12 minutes of deep techno" by Resident Advisor. You can listen below.

Forrests

Electronic/Ambient

Experimental duo Forrests make atmospheric tracks which you'll lose yourself in. Their most natural comparison is to Fuck Buttons, but Forrests craft warmer, more delicate instrumental tracks. They released their 'Wilder' EP last year to much acclaim. Listen to it in its entirety below.
